Today I have done my intervention with 3 experts. The first person I contacted was a cybersecurity expert as well as lecturer at UCL University; a government sustainability expert currently doing his PHD and a perfumer.

1-I provided them with my knowledge from secondary research on counterfeit cosmetics and the dangers.

2-I asked the to worked together and create an action plan with their different knowledge following the process down below

>Workshop Plan:

To collaboratively design and simulate an intervention strategy that tackles the issue of counterfeit cosmetics sold on social media by integrating cybersecurity measures, sustainable practices, and authentic product development.

Activity Structure:

1. Introduction and Briefing (15 minutes)

o Context Setting: Provide an overview of the current problem of counterfeit cosmetics on social media, emphasizing the risks to consumer safety, brand integrity, and environmental impact.

o Roles and Goals: Explain the specific role and goal of the workshop in the simulation. Cybersecurity experts will focus on detection and mitigation of fraudulent activities, sustainability experts on reducing the environmental footprint of interventions, and perfumers on safeguarding the authenticity and quality of products.

2. Scenario Presentation (10 minutes)

o Scenario:  Fake products are being sold using the brand’s name, leading to consumer complaints about quality, safety issues, and environmental concerns due to non-sustainable packaging.

3. Breakout Sessions (30 minutes)

•  Group Formation: Team with cybersecurity expert, sustainability expert and perfumer.

•  Task: Each team must develop an integrated intervention strategy that addresses:

Cybersecurity: Identifying, tracking, and taking down counterfeit listings. Strategies could include advanced AI for detecting fakes, social media monitoring, and collaboration with social media platforms.

Sustainability: Ensuring the response plan minimizes environmental impact. This could involve strategies to promote and authenticate sustainable packaging and responsible sourcing, as well as reducing waste from counterfeit products.

Product Authenticity: Creating methods to help consumers distinguish genuine products from counterfeits, such as innovative packaging, scent markers, or secure digital verification.

•  Strategy Development and Presentation (30 minutes)

Deliverable: The group creates a detailed plan that includes specific actions, and metrics for success. They must address short-term actions (e.g., immediate response) and long-term strategies (e.g., ongoing monitoring, consumer education).

Presentation: Present  strategies, highlighting how the collaboration between cybersecurity, sustainability, and product authenticity ensures a comprehensive and effective intervention.

•  Expert Feedback and Discussion (20 minutes)

Panel Feedback: Experts from each domain provide constructive feedback on the strategies, focusing on feasibility, innovation, and potential impact.

Discussion: Open the floor for discussion on how these strategies could be implemented in the real world and potential barriers to success.

•  Conclusion and Next Steps (10 minutes)

Wrap-Up: Summarize key insights and actionable ideas generated during the simulation.
