The father of Baccarat Rouge……
In the ‘70s the Fragrance world was different as it was not connected to actors and brands making it more and more niche.
So, what’s up with dupes and counterfeits?
Dealing with problems on social media exploiting the brand, this ‘passing on’ disrupting the purity of the creation itself. This is an acknowledgement of the talent inspiring other people. It is rewarding as this can inspire people to create something new but this could never be as good as the original. No one can copy as the quality is pure and high.
A lot of dupes were made from Baccarat Rouge, and the quality is so distinctive and no one so far has managed to copy it perfectly. Everything is quick nowadays and it is scary.
Is technology linked to tradition?
Creating a scent that inspires people. Human beings are pleased by smelling and that is the goal and that depends on the tools that are very advanced today especially AI that creates possibilities. But I always go back to my roots offering beautiful perfumes.
However fragrances may not be tangible anymore…the bottle, branding and touching it…
Technology and science are both crucial, and why not, because at the end is the goal the counts…feeling something. Believing in the power of imagination.
From painting to photography and now AR to express new emotions and embrace the capacity of creators to push boundaries for new feelings.
How did this help?
Interviewing the Brand General Manager of Maison Francis Kurkdjian about counterfeit perfumes was a significant step in my research because it provided an insider's perspective on how a luxury fragrance brand is directly impacted by counterfeiting. The manager’s insights offered firsthand knowledge of the challenges that counterfeits pose, not only in terms of lost revenue but also in terms of brand reputation and consumer trust. Their perspective also highlighted the complexities involved in protecting product integrity and the specific measures luxury brands are implementing to combat fakes. This interview was invaluable for understanding the practical, behind-the-scenes challenges that counterfeit perfumes bring to luxury brands, adding depth to my research by connecting broader counterfeiting issues to real-world brand impact and strategic responses.
